We attended IPC’s Christmas party on Wednesday evening. The gathering had quite a bit of buildup
complete with a competitive door decoration contest (photos below). Since the other VRAs all happened to be
travelling during the days leading up to the party, Fritz and I made a run to
the National Bookstore on Katipunan for some wrapping paper and ribbons for the
VRA door. We missed the message that the
door decorations had to have a story behind them…
The party began in late afternoon with a few animal chanting
ice breakers and then progressed to fun games, very nice food, and, of course,
karaoke. Our two favorite games were
roll-the-egg-across-the-floor-with-and eggplant-dangling-from-your-waist-by-ribbon
and drinking-a-cup-of-Coke-as-fast-as-you-can-with-a-straw. Really, though, the games were quite
fun. Fritz won the game of guessing the
mystery word taped to his forehead in the shortest amount of time. His word was Manny Pacquao, a famous Filipino
boxer and politician. The preceding
words were Frank Lynch (the man for which IPC’s building is named), Facebook,
and Egypt. Participants could only ask
yes/no questions. The VRAs (even Fritz!)
sang “Last Christmas” on karaoke.
Karaoke is very popular here, both group and solo. The party lasted until 9:30 but we left around 7:30. IPC arranged for a nice catered dinner
with some fresh milkfish and roasted vegetables.
We took a few short videos of some of the games (some of which were a little surprising to us, to say the least...):
Game 1
Game 2
Game 3
We’re heading up to UP for a lantern parade tonight and
meeting up with the Wong sisters (old friends from Missouri) tomorrow night.

Can you tell what prizes we brought? (the Santas say: "Santa loves badgers." We had to explain that one...) |
